Tho Secretary of tho Lako County Jockey Club, Mr P. M. Tohin, will shortly post to all Otago owners n cud programme of tho club's race-meeting f«.»r MWti On the hack of tho card will in- primed tho dates of other Goldfields' fixtures with dates of nomination, amount f;f stake.'' offered, etc. Owners who intend doing the GoMfields' meeting will thus bo supplied with all necessary information at. a gl.-mco. Nothing is lost, by judicious advertising. The secretaries of other iowo couutry clubs might do worse than follow suit.

Consequent upon the removal of our old friend and popular sport, Mr J. J. Cotter, to his new home near Dunedin, several horses that have been un 'er hisoaro or in which he holds a monetary interest will bo placod in or her hands to train or sold privately. The best known performed galloper is Jewel Case who never looked better in his life. He is big and lusty and jus l ', ready to bo put int.-» active commission. This handsome son of Casket ought to render a good account of himself at tho forthcoming country race-meetings. It is most likely his owners will send him to some Dunedin trainer to receive the finishing touches beforo sporting silk. Legercorn, the 1-y: old son of Legerity and Cornicello is in the private sale list. This well grown colt only sported silk once, viz., in the District Hack Handicap al the L.C.J.C. meeting. To my way of thinking he performed very creditably, as, after getting away twice with his rider and galloping a quarter of a mile each time, he finished well up in third place. He wjjs beaten by the Serf and I'.ondoinoor both of whom were very wed last year, and although the last mentioned are no thing wonderful they are certainly not the slowest hacks we have had amongst local racers To anyone needing a good riding hark Legercorn ouyht to bo a cheap horse at tho price his owners are asking for him, Another of Mr ('otter's lot that should command the attention of buyers is a full sister to Legercorn rising 2-years old. This handsome filly seemed first prize as a yearling in her ela9s,' and champion against all comers at the Lake County A. and P. Society's show last year. .MiGeorge Ruthron pronounced her to bo one of the best, proportioned youngsters that had come under his notice for a long tiino and no disgrace to .any show ring in the colony. She is not a big om; hut a thorough lady all over. Just the sort to come early, and, if I mistake not, she- will slip like a red hot knife through a pit of butter. She can lie bought at a moderate figure. Mr Cotter will take the trotter J.C. with him and use him as a hack in the meantime.

1 am sorry to report thai Mr J. FitZ Patrick's 4-yr old filly by Legerity out ol [tosealgier met with an accident a couple of week's ago. She was careering round one of Mr Fitzpatrick's paddocks and struck hoi hip violently on tho corner of .a fence. Her owner has no hope of being able to train her this yu.iv ; in fact ho has very grave doubls if she will ever recover sufficiently to bu of any use as a racer. Thi? is hard luck for ftlr Kitzpa'iiek as the (illy was coming on nicely and gave promise of being more than useful at our country race- meetings.

Several candidates for maidon tr<>t. honors have como under my notieo biddy. All appear to bo well forward in condition and likely to go to tho post if the handicapper cm satisfy the variouH owners, which no doubt Mr Logan will go very near doing. This event on the local programme promises to (ill well.
