BANQUET AT SKIPPERS.

Weloome Home To Mr And Mrs A. Lambie. (&AKH COUNTY PRESS CORRESPONDENT.) A welcome home social was tendered to Mr and Mrs A. Lambie, of Mt. Aurum Station, in the Library Hall; Skippers, on Friday evening last. The function proved most enjoyable throughout, and despite the wet night fully seventy people were present. The tables were nicely arranged and carried refreshments of a plentiful and varied kind, and reflected great credit on the oaterers, Messrs Cotter Bros., and the ladies who assisted in arranging the tables. The chair was ably filled by Mr ' i Rogers, who proposed the toast of " The King" ; after which in a neat speech he proposed the toast of the Guests of the Evening, Mr and Mrs Lambie. Mr R. Johnston also spoke to this toast, and the toast was drunk enthusiastically with musical honorß. Mr Lambie, on behalf of Mrs Lambie and himself, replied thanking the people of Skippers for their great kindness, and the speakers for their very kind remarks. The other toasts were "The Ladies," Mr Jno. Stephenson and Mr C. Lewis, and " The Mining Industry," Mr Corbett and Mr Bishop. After the banquet was over the room was cleared and dancing was kept up till an early hour. Capital music was supplied by Messrs B. Anderson and F. Barnett. Mr D. Ward waa a most efficient M.C. Songs were rendered during the evening by Messrs M'Nichol, Gudgeon, Helms, Barnett and Keating. During tho dance, Mr Jno. S. Collins, secretary for the library committee, presented Mr Lambie with a handsome marble cbek, the gift of his fellow members of the library committee. Mr Lambie thanked the committee for their handsome gift, which Mrs Lambie and himself would prize very much. He would always do what he could to assist the committee and to further the aims of tho institution. A very pleasant evening was spent and we are now wondering who will be the next pilgrim to the Alter of Hymen. [The Press joins with tho residents of Skippers in wishing Mr and Mrs Lambie overy happiness and prosperity in life.]
