FIRE IN CHRISTCHURCH.
Heavy Losses. The Dunlop Tyre Oo.’o warehouse in Lichfield Street was gutted by fire at 4 o’clock on Thursday morning, and tho whole stock of tyres and rubber goods ruined. The origin of tho fire is unknown. The accountant left at 9.15 on Wednesday evening and all was safe. The stock of A. S. Gurney, warehouseman, next door was ruined by smoko. The fireman were at a great dis.advantage owing to the heavy black smoke from tho rubber, which greatly hampered them. Insurances ; Stock £‘9700, building, £ISOO in Victoria office. Tho loss to the company will be groat owing to thoir being no other stock of rubber in Christchurch.
