WEEK'S MINING NEWS.
In 1892 the world's gold output was £29,912,201. It increased as follows since : —1893, £32,602,907 ; 1894, £36,765,652 ; 1895, £40,999,770 ; 1896, £41,713,715; 1897, £48,780, 611 ; 1898, £59,558,652 ; 1899, £64,652,663 ; 1900, £53,105,239 ; 1901, £54,774,769; 1902, £02,188, 528. Sixteen quartz mines in tho Marlborough, Collingwood, Westpurt, Lyell, and Reefton districts crushed during the past year 107,871 tons of quartz which yielded 52,6330z of gold, value £212,150. The Progress Mines of New Zealand, Reefton, crushed by far the greatest quantity—ss,976 tons—yielding 26,4870z, and the Last Chance, Merrijigs, the leaßt—3 tous, 6oz. The Golden Fleece crushed 13,614 tons, 7000oz; Wealth of Nations, 11,566 tons, 55440z ; Keep-it-Dark, 11,405 tons, 3S00oz; Kirwan'a Reward, 8963 tons, 25480z ; and Welcome, 1776 tons, 11950z. In the Collingwood district the Golden Ridge and Anthill Mines crushed 3442 tons, 22230z, and the Golden Blocks 2402 tons, 21190z. The Jubileo Mine, at Top Valley, Marlborough, crushed 644 tons, 1520z.
