A COUPLE OF SHADY CHARACTERS.
LONDON, September 12
l'\iugeron, a Frenchman, has been committed to Clerkenwell on a charge of murdering Jung, a Swiss jeweller. The prisoner alleges that Jung, representing a secret society, offered him money to stab Mr Chamberlain for causing the Boer war and its attendant misery, but the bribe was rejected. Tlie reUtfU of moneys previously given by Jung to relieve him in his distress was then demanded. A scuffle ensued, in which he killed Jung unintentionally and in self-defence.
