THE CURE OF INFLUENZA.
The Melbourne Board of Health has issued the following “ instructions ” with regard to influenza : —Persons suffering from this disease must not attempt to “ shake it oil,” but must lie up in a room properly wanned and properly ventilated, without draughts, and avoid all necessary exposure. In all cases the stieigth must be well maintained by beef tea, nourishing broths, eggs, milk, and similar articles of diet : ail depressing treatment to be particularly avoided. When medical advice is obtained, a little quinine (as much as will lie on a threepenny piece for an adult, and half this amount for a child) may be taken twice a day in a spoonful of jam. During convalescence it is of the first importance to avoid exposure, draughts, and fatigue, owing to great liability to relapses which may be, and frequently are fatal.
