(lake county press correspondent.}' The grear event of last week to the school children was the hoisting of the school flag for the tirst time. This event took place last Friday. The flag was received from the Education Department, some time ago. The flagpole was kindly given by Mr James Horn, County Chairman, and came to hand last week. The work <d erecting it was carried out by Mr Parcoll, clerk of the school committee, and Mr Sutherland a member of the committee. On Friday afternoon the children were assembled at the end of the school where the pole was erected and sang two verses of " God defend New Zealand." The flag was then unfurled by .Miss Flossie Horn, the senior pupil of the school, to the strains of the national anthem. On going into school again the medals in commemoration of the late Royal visit were distributed, and the children were told they were to have a half holiday in honor of the double eVent:
