Sydney, April 7. Four new cases of plague reported to-day. They wer«: Powell, of a boy named Smith at R#d-

fern, Mrs M'Bride at Forest Lodge, and one unknown. A girl named Rawlinson died in quarantine. April 8. S x fresh cases of plague were reported to-day--Elizabeth Langford, Prince Alfred Hospital ; Mary Boshell (mother of an infant named Fred Boshell, also suffering), King Street; Kennedy, Marrickville ; Mason, Parramntta ; Shaw, Woolloomooloo. The following deaths have occur!ed : —Elizabeth Langford, Fred Boshell, Yates, Gaynor, and Mabel Quinn. April 9. The President of the Board of Health, in an interview, says he recards the plague as in command of the city j that its spread is due absolutely to rats ; and that nothing is surer than that Sydney will be a ruined city unless the rats are killed. The only people who appear to be ignorant of this are the inhabitants. Melbourne, April 7. The steamer South Australian, from Syney, entered the heads with a yellow flag flying. She was quarantined, as a fireman named Brown is suffering from plague.
