Arrow Hospital

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above body was held on Saturday last, and was attended by Messrs W. J. Stanford (chairman), J. Jenkins, H. Graham, T. M‘Donnell, Q. H. Romans, and W. M'Kibbin. The Southland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board » rote, forwarding monthly contribution. —Received.

Wong Hop, per L. H. Preston, wrote, enquiring how the Chinamen's contributions stood towards the Hospital, and submitted a list of names of 25 subscribers amounting to £5 ss.

Proposed by Mr Romans, seconded by M r Jenkins—That a vote of thanks be accorded Wong Hop, and that five blank tickets bo given him, to be used at his discretion.— Carried.

The Surgeon’s report, read and adopted, ■bowed that 8 patients had been treated during the month, 4 remained, 4 admitted, and 4 discharged, while the outpatients numbered 7-

Mr M'Kibbin, for the Visiting Committee, said be bad been shown over the wards by Mr Eaton. He found everything in good order, and Mr Eaton was very civil to him. He thought the rumors about the wardaman had been exaggerated. Mr Romans thought that what he had heard was true. Complaints had been made to him about patients not getting enough food, etc.

Mr M'Kibbin said he asked the wardsman if he took food off the table. The wardsroan said he did not, that it was left for them to help themselves. The Chairman here read a number of letters from Miss Jessie Clark, W, Clark, T. Mathicson, J. Patterson, J. Lynn aud A. Joss, all cf which praised the way in which they had been treated in the hospital. The Chairman said the matter had been •well pretty well ventilated. Messrs Graham and Romans were appointed Visiting Committee for the ensuing month.

Accounts amounting to £46 18s Id were passed for payment. 'lhe secretary was ordered to make up all travelling expenses to that meeting. The Treasurer’s report showed a balance of £194 10s Id. A vote of thanks to the chair closed the meetiug.
