EDUCATION BOARD.
Inter alia, the following business was transacted at last week’s meeting of the Southland Education Board :
The secretary was instructed to inform the Queenstown Committee fdiat the Board would contribute £5 ■ls as half cost of painting. The Lower ShOtover Committee was authorised to erect an outhouse at a c6st of £5. It was resolved that the late head teacher at Arrow should be informed that the Board could not see its way to interfere between the dunmittee and the mistress of the school as to the duration of the holidays.
The Macetown Committee having applied to have certain repairs executed, the Board decided to contribute one half the cost, and approved of the committee’s action in accepting the tender of W. Patton (£lB 10s) for the work.
