ARROW DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Arrow District Hospital Trustees was held on Saturday last. Present—Messrs B. R. Baird (chair), L. H. Preston, W. Butler, T. M'Donnell, P. Butel.

Minutes of previous meeting were read and continued.

Outward correspondence was read and approved. Inward correspondence comprised letters as follow :

From the secretary of the Southland Hospital Board, forwarding a cheque of £l9 is Sd, quarterly instalment, less amount previously overpaid. The treasurer reported a credit ba’ance of £G7 11s Bd, including £2l 12s received from Government. From the Treasury, notifying that subsidy on voluntary contributions amounting to £2l 12s had been forwarded. The secretary stated that it was necessary under the Act that two of the oldest members in office should retire annually Four having been elected on same date, there were no seniors. After certain sections of the Act w r ere read and considered, it was resolved that lots should be drawn to determine who should be the two retiring members. The four gentlemen that were longest in office were Messrs Elliott, Scoles, MMvibbin, and M'Donnell. Lots were drawn, when the two first-named were retired. [Mr B’tier here vacated his seat.] The account owing to the Lake County Forest Nursery (hold over from last meeting) was ordered to he paid. The Surgeon’s report for the month showed that four patients had been treated, four admitted, two discharged, and two remaining in the wards. He also stated that he was well pleased with the new wardsinun and matron. Accounts as follow were passed for payment : —W. J. Marsh, £1 2s fid ; Evening Star Company, 12s 3d ; F. W. Wedlake, 5s ; Romans and Heller, £1 11s 81-d Wong Hop Lee, 8s fid ; W. Jenkins and Co., £5 Is fid ; Milk, £1 14s 5d ; Secretary, £5; Incidentals, 8s fid ; Marshall (chemist), £1 Is fid ; Fergusson and Mitchell, £1 lls 4d ; Surgeon’s alary, £2O ifis 8:1 ; Wardsman £fi ss. An account of the Otago Daily Times was held over on account of it varying in price from that of other papers. The secretary was requested to write and see if there was any mistake. A vote of thanks to the chair ended the meeting.
