THE DISASTER ON THE THAMES.

The particulars of the Priucess Alice disaster recently in the Thames are published by the ' Star.':—London, September 4. —There has been a terrible loss of life in the River Thames, One of the large steamers had taken a large number of persons on a pleasure excursion down the river to Sheemess, at the mouth of the Medway. The steamer had started on the return trip, and had not proceeded far when signals of distress were made, and almost immediately afterwards she flank. The cause was the dividing, of the steamer into twoparts. ' The number of persons on board is now ascertained to be 675, of whom 600 were drowned; The Queen has expressed her deep regret at this deplorable accident, and her sympathy with the sufferers.
