SKI CLUB’S DANCE

Presentation of Trophies

Trophies won during the recent ski-lug championships conducted on Coronet Peak grounds, Queenstown, were presented at a dance held by the Wakatipu Ski Club in the Ambassadors Tea Rooms, Queenstown, on Thursday evening last week. There was a record attendance of skiers and friends. Extending a welcome to visiting clubs, the president of the Wakatipu Club, Captain G. A. Herbert, referred to the laarge number of new skiers, which, he said, was a sign that the sport was gaining in popularity. He congratulated the Mount Cook Tourist Company on their enterprise in installing an additional ski tow and spoke of the capabilities of Mr Olaf Rodegard, the company’s ski instructor. Captain Herbert presented the trophies won during the championship series and Dr Raymond Kirk presented the university trophies. At the conclusion of the evening the Wakatipu Ski Club presented Mr Rodegard with an enlarged photograph of Queenstown as a token of the high esteem in which he was held by the club.
