The Sabbath Question.

"NOT UNDER' THE LAW B^TT UNDER GRACE."

W TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Continuing a study of the apostles words, to those who have accepted Christ as their Saviour, let us again read Rom, 6.14 " For sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye are not under the law but under grace."—Sin is the transgression of God's law ; 1 John 3.4. —Sin has complete dominion over every one who is not trusting in God ; Rom 3,9-12, Rom 8.7. There is another law concerning the transgression of the law of God, which heads thus: —" The soul that sinneth it shall die; " Eze 18.4 —The wages of sin is death ; Rom 6.23. Paul calls this " the law of sin ;" Rom 7.23. We now have two laws before us : — The law of God, and the law of sin. It was our breaking of God's law that brought us under the law of sin ; Rom 3.19. As stated in my last letter, it is not the keepers, but the breakers of God's law who are under the curse and sentence of death; But there is yet another law, through which, by the grace of God, believers are delivered from the dominion of sin, for we read in Rom 8.1.2 : " There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and of death. R.V. Every true Christian has the Spirit of Christ, Rom 8.9., by which he is able to keep God's law ; Rom 8.4, 13. . Phil 4.13. These scriptures show that we -may be subject to the law of God, and so under God's grace, or we may be disobedient of God's commandments and so be under . the law of sin and of death. He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar and the truth is not in him ; 1 John 2.4. Therefore those who teach that to keep the seventhday Sabbath is to be under the curse, are unknowingly causing division, for the Bible .teaches just the reverse. The last message of mercy and warning, Rev 14,6 —12, which is now due, will bring all true believers to one mind and to the keeping of God's commandments, including the seventh-day Sabbath, Rev 14.12 ; Jam. 2.10. All God's children should labour to remove every .difference of opinion and division. Are there not other lovers of truth among your readers, who will express their views on this vital question, and so help to bring about that uniformity of teaching and practice for which our dear Saviour so earnestly prayed ? I am, etc, GEO. JOHNSON, Parkhurst.

A correspondent, who says he has not time to discuss the question as to whether the day generally recognised as Sunday is the seventh day of the week or the first, as he does not know of any proof for one or the other, says that the Bible itself should be proved before people start to prove things by its use. He contends that the Bible teaching and morals is little different to that of many of the other long-established religions, and that proof of its authorship, inspiration and authenticity should be supplied by anyone" before triyng to prove that other people interpret it wrongfully.
