Two other employes slept in a loom off the loft next to the one Boisman occupied. They had often noticed that he was .strange in his demeanour, and weie somewhat alarmed at the fact that he always carried a revolver. They fastened the door leading to their room. About one in the morning they heatd both doors tried, as they supposed, by Botsuian, but they were too alarmed to make, any inquiries. About halfpast four I he door from the loft was again tried. Shortly afterwards they heard several shots, and saw through the door fhm.es. They made their escape. Botsman'ss Imdy was seen lying across the doorway with blood oozing from his head. When the flames were extinguished the body was found chaned almost to cinders. The

medical evidence showed th it three shots had been fire 1, which had taken effect about the head and neck. There was eveiy probability that Botsman was dead before the fire reached him.
