GOLF NOTES

PROGRAMME FOR NEXT WEEKEND.

Bda weather caused the postponement of most of the second round championship matches last week-end, and those that have been delayed should be played this week-end. On Saturday the Duff Cup will be competed for. This cup is for fourball best ball bogey competition. Players choose their partners and arrange fours. Handicaps are taken by each player as shown on the front of the card as in an ordinary bogey match.

The following reductions in handicaps were made last week: A. Fleming 11 to 10, and R. L. Voyce 24 to 20.

LADIES' SECTION. The following is the draw for an L.G.U. on Saturday next:— Seniors: Mrs. Barker v. Mrs. Wilson; Mrs. Kennedy v. Mrs. Chadwick; Miss Silcock v. Mrs. Hotson; Mrs. Were v. Mrs. Sinclair; Mrs. Hetet v. Mrs. Ormsby. Juniors: Miss Podevin 'v. Miss Walker; Miss Hine v. Mrs. Duncan; Mrs. Prescott v. Mrs. Thornton; Miss Burgess v. Mrs. Smart; Mrs. Gould v. Miss Hotson; Mrs. Isaac v. Mrs. Symonds; Mrs. O'Connell v. Mrs. Evans; Miss Calver v. Miss Craig; Mrs. Marwood v. Mrs. Trapski; Mrs. Mostyn Jones v. Mrs. Harrison. The following players will play the second round of the secretary's trophy. The best cards in the first round were handed in by Miss Davenport, Miss Ward and Miss Bishop. Miss McNeil v. Miss Bishop; Miss Were v. Miss Davenport; Mrs. Dick v. Miss Kennedy; Mrs. Hebden v.. Mrs. Fenton; Miss Palmer v. Miss Hotson; Mrs. Board v. Miss Vandersloot; Miss Melville v. Miss Seagrove; Miss McNaught v. Miss Sanderson; .Miss Rothery v. Miss Barton.

All competitions were cancelled last Saturday owing to bad weather.

The final of the foursomes played during the week-end resulted in a win by a narrow margin of 1 up for Mrs. Chadwick and Miss Walker. Throughout the tournament this couple have been playing good sound golf, and it will be remembered that they were also successful in winning the Canadian foursomes on the ladies' open day. A return inter-club match with Otorohanga ladies will be played on the local links next Tuesday. The team to represent this Club will be posted in the clubhouse.
