SCHOOL BUILDINGS

ERECTION ON CIRCUS PADDOCK.

PLANS BEING PREPARED. LETTER FROM DEPARTMENT. Following on representations made by the local School Committee, the following letter, dated July 26, has been received in regard to the Te Kuiti school buildings from the Director of Education, Mr. N. T. Lambourne: — "By direction of the Hon. Minister of Education, I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 28th June, having reference to the need for the provision of more adequate classroom accommodation for the Primary pupils attending the Te Kuiti District High School. "In this connection I have been requested to inform you that it was not possible to proceed immediately with the erection of the necessary additional accommodation, as the existing site would not permit of the buildings being erected thereon. "As you are aware, consideration was given to the matter of securing for school purposes either the adjoining Domain or some nearby Crown land. This matter has now received the consideration of the Hon. Minister and he has agreed that steps should be taken to secure 7% sections of Crown land and the halfsection of privately owned land fronting Rora Street. "This matter is now in hand and the Auckland Education Board has been authorised to proceed immediately with the preparation of working plans and specifications for the erection of a three-roomed, open-air block on the existing Primary School site and a six-roomed, open-air block on the Crown land. The Education Board has been acquainted with your desire that the erection of the three-roomed block should be immediately."
