PIO PIO DISTRICT NEWS
Mrs. Morris, of Kahuwera Road, has returned home after a weeks holiday in Wellington. While there, Mrs. Morris acted as representatative for the Pio Pio branch of the Womens' Division of the Farmers' Union which was holding its annual conference.
Mrs. E. McAlley, Mairoa Road, has returned from a fortnight's trip to the South Island. Miss Lena Slines was a recent visitor to Hamilton.
Mrs. L. Young, who for the past fourteen years has been in residence in Mairoa, has taken a house in Te Kuiti where in future she will reside.
Miss Mary Casey spent last weekend in Hamilton.
Mrs. Smeaton, of Auckland, is at present relieving in the Infant Department of the Pio Pio District High School, while Miss P. M. von Tunzleman is absent on sick leave.
Miss Joan Nilson, a past pupil of the Pio Pio High School, has received notice of her appointment to the Dental Clinic at Pio Pio. At present Miss Nilson is stationed at Matata, Bay of Plenty. She will commence duty in Pio Pio at the beginning of the third school term.
The annual meeting of the Pio Pio Dairy Factory suppliers was held last Saturday, 22nd inst., in the Town Hall. Luncheon was served by members of the Womens' Division. Members of the Pio Pio Drainage Board met last week with a view to draining the swamp land area between the white bridge and Mr. Dinnison's. This piece of land, eight acres, is one of the proposed sites for the State houses.
