SLIGHTLY LOWER

FRANKTON BEEF VALUES.

FALL OF TEN SHILLING A HEAD,

A larger supply of beef at the Frankton yards yesterday was not in the same keen request as last week and values tended lower, a general fall of 10s a head being recorded. Quality, on the whole, was not quite as good as last week, and this, combined with the fact that several of the usual buyers were absent, was responsible for the slacker interest.

Yesterday's top price for steers was £l4 10s, against £ls last week and £ls 10s a fortnight ago. Good medium steers sold from £ll 6s to £l2 19s, while the tops of the cow and heifer beef section were traded from £8 12s Cd to £lO 17s 6d, with a top realisation of £ll 17s.

Quotations: Heavy prime steers £l3 10s to £l4 10s; prime £ll 2s 6d to £l2 19s; light £lO to £11; small £7 to £9 17s 6d; extra prime cows and heifers £8 12s Gd to £lO 17s; prime £7 to £8; fat £5 10s to £6 15s; killable £4 to £5 ss.
