BEEF FIRM
WESTFIELD MARKET. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report that at their weekly Westfield fat stock market held on Wednesday they yarded 171 head of beef comprising 23 steers and 138 cows and heifers compared with 227 head last week. Competition for ox beef was good and a firm sale resulted. Cow and heifer beef also sold well at full late rates. Extra choice ox sold to 33s per 1001 b; choice and prime, 30s to 325; secondary and plain, 27s to 295; prime young cow and heifer beef, 28s to 30s; ordinary cow beef, 20s to 265. Extra heavy prime steers ranged from £l3 10s to £l3 15s for steers on acount of Mr. L. H. Larner, Morrinsville; heavy prime steers £l2 to £l3 ss; lighter prime steers £ll to £ll 15s; light prime steers, £lO to £lO 17s 6d; small and unfinished, £7 10s to £9 10s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £lO to £lO 17s 6d for a heifer on account of Mr. H. Windsor, Tamahere; lighter prime, £7 10s to £8 17s 6d; other killable cows, £4 to £5 17s 6d.
