SCHEMES APPROVED
o CENTENNIAL PROPOSALS. WAIKATO DISTRICT ZONE. The Waikato Centennial zone committee met in Hamilton on Wednesday and approved of several Centennial schemes for towns in the district. Approval was given to the following schemes:—Cambridge, water filtration plant at baths; Te Kuiti, development of domain and erection of memorial 'gates; Waitomo, several projects, including tree planting at reserves and school grounds; Te Aroha, improvements to two public domains. Advice was received from the Auckland Provincial Centennial Council that applications for subsidy moneys for Centennial schemes must be received before March 31 next and must be uplifted before applications for approval of Centennial memorials of celebration dates would be considered by the Council after September 30. The Morrinsville Borough Council's amended celebration dates to March 5 and 6 were approved. The Mayor of Hamilton, Mr. D. Caro, who presided, said that arrangements had been made to include Waitomo and Otorohanga Counties, the Te Kuiti Borough and the Otorohanga Town Board district in the Waikato zone.
