ALLEGED ASSAULTS
CHARGES AGAINST PAINTER. SIX COUNTS PREFERRED. Six charges of indecent assault against girls under the ages of 16 years were heard before Mr. Justice Johnston in the Supreme Court, Hamilton, yesterday, at the opening of the quarterly session. Accused was Boccassini Corrado, aged 63, a painter, of Waimiha. Four of the offences were alleged to have taken place between January 1 and January 31, in Taumarunui, and the other two against one girl on May 22, at Waimiha. The case for the Crown is being conducted by Mr. H. T. Gillies, and associated with him is Mr. J. R. FitzGerald. Accused, who pleaded not guilty to all the charges, is represented by Mr. J. F. Strang. Accused was born in Italy, having been in New Zealand for 47 years, and he had no relations in the Dominion, said Mr. Gillies. All the girls involved in the charges were Maoris.
The case was not completed when the Court rose.
