Otorohanga has now a surplus on its quota for first platoon of Territorials, and is now deputed to form a second platoon—each of 30 men. Otorohanga is now the sixth centre in the Auckland Province with a full quota of men. A further 25 recruits are required to form the second platoon, and the local bodies, friendly societies and employers generally, are actively co-operating in the movement to complete the second platoon. LieutenantColonel Potter, who recently visited Otorohanga, stated that this centre had the strongest platoon in the Dominion when volunteering first commenced. An increase in the strength of the Otorohanga Territorials will provide opportunity for promotion for the keener young men, and set a good example to larger centres where recruiting is stagnant.
