WOOLLEN MODELS

FEATURED IN MAYFAIR. SHEER AND FILMY FABRICS. London, June 5. Off to New York and Hollywood on Wednesday sails Lydia Moss, famous Mayfair designer, and with her goes her newest collection of lingerie, negligees and dinner gowns—lovely sheer things of sheer film fabrics, inlet with lace and run through with ribbons, whose big news for New Zealanders lies in the fact that out of 33 models 19 are made of pure wool.

At her London pre-view, shown at San Marco restaurant to-day,. Lydia Moss talked about wool as if it were written "WOOL."

The newest woollen fabrics, she said, were fluid, flattering, and perfectly feasible. As an example, she showed a negligee and nightgown made of an off-white sheer wool, which looked like chiffon and felt as cool and smooth as linen. Sunset red lace was used to make dramatic epaulets on the negligee shoulders.

She showed a white gossamer wool set—exquisitely cut —embroidered and appliqued with yellow satin, lace was linked up with sheer woollen fabrics, too, so was ruched strawberry pink satin, which edged the hems of a set made out of straw-

berries-and-cream pink nun's veiling, and polka dot lace, which hemmed a negligee made of pale rose pink wool. All these were feminine and bewitching. Tailored Lingerie. There was a whole family of tailored wool lingerie as well. In the striped group came a travel set made of men's shirting, pin striped in white on grey, and tailored to within an inch of its life. Tailored, too, was a plover's egg green woollen nightgown, striped in a lighter green and belted with cherry red velvet. Woollen plaids came into the picture, too.

The orchesti-a began to play "Annie Laurie' for an all-in-one shirt and knickers in plaid wool, which introduced jade greens, reds, and maroons, with a dash of yellow. "A smart and practical set for wearing with tweeds. What a triumph in chic for the woman who shoots or walks," said Lydia Moss. Next appeared a wonderful evening coat made of black ostrich feathers, beautifully mounted on black chiffon, which gave it a fluid grace. And, last, Lydia Moss announced her new wool lame—newest and loveliest of her materials for winter dinner frocks. This dinner frock was made in a wool lame in coppers and golds; is guaranteed as warm and comfortable as a wool knit; clings like chiffon; packs into nothing, and, what is even more important, unpacks in creaseless superiority.
