VALUES AT WESTFIELD. IMPROVEMENT IN RATES. A yarding of 200 head of fat cattle came forward at Dalgety and Company's weekly stock sale at Westfield on Wednesday, comprising 88 steers and 112 cows and heifers, compared with 259 head last week. Competition for ox beef was steady and a very firm sale resulted. A small yarding of cow and heifer beef met a keen demand and last week's rates were improved upon. Quotations: Extra choice ox sold to 335; choice and prime, 30s to 325; just killable 27s to 295; prime young cow and heifer beef 28s to 30s; just killable 20s to 265.
Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l3 to £l4 15s; heavy prime steers £l2 to £l2 15s; lighter prime steers £ll to £ll 15s; light prime steers £lO to £lO 15s; small and unfinished £6 to £9; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £9 10s to £10; heavy prime £8 10s to £9 7s 6d; lighter prime, £7 5s to £8 ss; light, £6 to £7; other killable cows, £4 to £5 10s.
