MANIAPOTO RUGBY UNION

FIXTURES IN VIEW. The fortnightly meeting of the Maniapoto Rugby Sub-Union was held on Tuesday evening, Mr. G. Cameron presiding over the following delegates: Messrs. Wilson, Rooney, Taylor, Meredith, Verry, Dinsdale, Farrell, Black, and Cotter. Mr. Verry suggested that matches should be arranged with other Unions for the Junior and Senior B teams. The meeting decided to make.arrangements with Waipa and Hamilton Unions for matches. Permission was given to the Pio Pio Senior B team to play ' Tukapa, and the Te Kuiti Senior A team to play White Star on the date of their bye. Permission to play the annual lodge match was granted, the date to be arranged. Mr. Joseph made a request for the Maniapoto tribal team to play a shield match with the South Auckland Maori team at Rugby Park this week, also for a basketball match to be played on No. 2 ground. The request was granted, and the Maoris are to make all arnagements. The Union is to receive 10 per cent, of the gate takings.

Mr. Taylor, on behalf of the Pio Pio Club, complained about the Hangatiki Senior B team defaulting on 24th ult. It was stated that no word was received that the team was not keeping its engagement. The Union decided to impose a fine on Hangatiki, and until such fine is paid, the team is disqualified. The booth at Rugby Park is to be extended, the arrangements being left in the hands of the president. A cheque'for £lO is to be forwarded to the N.Z.R.U. towards the reduction of the principal outstanding on Rugby Park.

Several delegates promised cash donations on behalf of their Clubs towards their Unions' Centennial fund. The Committee also discussed other means of raising funds.

Mr. Cotter stated that some\mischievous persons had damaged the memorial stone to the late Mr. W. Copsey on the grandstand at Rugby Park. Action is to be'taken*
