"With all the ups and downs we have had, New Zealand still depends on its farmers," said Mr. A. C. Bretherton at the Canterbury Advertising Club's meeting. "The great bulk of our farmers are good workers, although there are a few who spend too mu> h time chasing races and sales or breeding from mongrel bulls and mongrel rams. My father said, "Get your boys on to the land, or your family will die out in three generations.' But our farmers' sons now hanker for a white collar and a shiny seat on their trousers."
