REFEREES’ ASSN. MEETING.

Fourteen members were present at the meeting of the Referees’ Association held last evening. A complaint of persistent barracking by a member of the Association while acting as a line umpire was dealt with, and in the evidence given the complaint was sustained. The referee in question was suspended for one month and his referee’s privileges cancelled until his next appointment.

A member complained that a team had in defaulting given but half an hour’s notice, and the meeting instructed its delegate to urge that owing to the inconvenience caused to the referee, other teams, and the spectators, teams that defaulted on short notice should incur a severe

penalty. The meeting held that it was quite in order for a referee to accept registration and insurance fees on the ground.

A discussion on rules, points and criticisms in relation to last Saturday’s matches then ensued.
