“If ever there was a time when it was desirable that we should preach co-operation and the principles for which we stand that time is now,” declared Sir Harry Batterbee, United Kingdom High Commissioner in New Zealand, in an address to members of the Hawera Rotary Club yesterday. The British Commonwealth of Nations, he said, stood for democracy, for liberty with order and discipline, and the price of freedom and of true liberty was eternal vigilance.
