SCHOOL COMMITTEE

PUKETUTU BUS ROUTE. ARRANGEMENTS FINALISED. The monthly meeting of the Tc Kuiti School Committee was held on Monday evening, when there were present Messrs. C. S. Brooks, chairman, W. F. Seeker, secretary, W. W. Horne, E. C. Sanders, A. W. Joseph, Rev. W. T. Brabyn, and the headmaster, Mr. F. G. Kibblewhite. Apologies were received on behalf of the members absent.

The value of the work performed by Bible classes prompted the committee to return the donation of £1 made to it in recognition of- the use made of the school for the Bible Class camp in Te Kuiti at Easter.

A vote of thanks was carried to the headmaster for the active interest he had taken in the work of the Dental Clinic.

After the Visiting Committee had reported that several matters, such as attention to drains, plumbing and downpipes, required attention, it was decided to attend to these matters immediately. A complaint was received of the unsatisfactory lighting facilities in the Municipal Hall and the headmaster was authorised to install the further lights necessary. Arrangements have been made for a bus run to Puketutu to bring pupils into the local school. The offer of the contractor, Mr. Patterson, to run pupils from Puketutu was accepted provided that the new vehicle he is to acquire complies with the requirements of the Transport Board and the Waitomo County Council. The present school bus is to be used on the Puketutu run, and the new one for the Awakino, Rangitoto, and Hangatiki runs. It is hoped to have the two buses on the road next term. When both are in operation, a total of 135 miles will be travelled daily on Te Kuiti school bus routes.
