“Especially the Waitomo Caves, and Rotorua. At first I thought the caves were like the sky at night, but when 1 looked at them they changed, and I
felt they were black velvet, studded with a million brilliants, embroidered in as many patterns. Rotorua was a thrill, too. I like the New Zealand audiences —they are warm and responsive. It is a joy to sing for them.”
