WEDDING

WOOD—McCORIHACK. Last evening the St. Andrew’? Presbyterian Church was the scene of one of the loveliest weddings witnessed in Te Kuiti for some time, when the marriage took place between Sheilah Athlone, youngest daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. R. J. E. McCormack, and Robert Frederick Goulding, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Wood, of Te Kuiti. The Rev. W. T. Brabyn performed the ceremony, and Miss Ivy Graham presided at the organ. The church had been attractively decorated with flowers harmonising with the bridal colour scheme. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. R. S. McCormack, wore a beautiful gown of white diamond-dust tulle fashioned on Edwardian lines worn over satinbacked taffeta. The frock had a high shirred bodice with short puff sleeves and a square neckline edged with pleated tulle. The full skirt fell from the bodice to form a scalloped train outlined with pleated tulle. The long veil, which was appliqued with diamond-dust and roses, was worn over the face when the bride entered the church, and was held in place with a single Christmas lily. She carried a sheaf of Christmas lillies.

The five attendants, Mrs. Desmond Ormsby, Miss Joan Wood, Miss Peggy Clapham, Miss Jean McCormack and Miss Joy McCormack, preceded the bride up the aisle. They wore a charming combination of white stiffened net over taffeta and dahlia bordered lace. The frocks were made with shirred bodices, a band of dahlia lace being placed about halfway up the very full skirts. Short boleros of lace completed the ensemble. White tulle fascinators edged with dahlia lace formed their headdresses and were held in place with top-nots of gladiolas. Each carried a sheaf of gladiolas. The bridegroom was attended by his cousin, Mr. Ashly Burke, as best man, and by Mr. Alan Craig and Mr. Phil Chitty as groomsmen. After the ceremony the guests were received at the Parish Hall by Mrs. McCormack and Mrs. Wood. The bride’s mother was wearing dove-grey satin with a scalloped bolero and a foxglove baku straw hat. Mrs. Wood wore a navy georgette frock patterned with cyclamen and a navy wide-brimmed hat with veil. Each carried a matching posy of carnations and dahlias. When Mr. and Mrs. Wood left, the bride was wearing a white tailored suit of wool lace, and a white boater hat with tan accessories.

Among those present were: Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Broadfoot, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Moller, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Morton, Mr. and Mrs. Kibblewhite, Mr. and Mrs. J. Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. R.
