Able Seaman Edwin Dwyer, aged 19, of H.M.S. Dorsetshire, was remanded at Hong Kong on a charge of murdering Leading Seaman Robert Dickinson off the Australian coast.
The British United Press correspondent in Vatican City says the Holy See has recognised General Franco's "Government," and has appointed Monsignor Cicognani, Apostolic Nuncio to Burgos, where it has hitherto been represented by a Charge d'Affaires.
The American liner, City of Norfolk, from Baltimore, on arrival in the Thames, reported that following a fatal assault on a member of the crew, the assailant jumped overboard and was drowned in the English Channel. In a heavy sea a boat was lowered to his rescue but capsized and thi-ee were drowned. Thus five of the crew are dead.
