A Master of Arts degree was conferred upon Mr. H. T. George, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. George, of Te Kuiti, at the capping ceremony at the Auckland Town Hall last Friday evening. Mr. George secured a second class degree in history.

Mr. R. Monds, manager of the Amalgamated Theatres for Te Kuiti, arrived yesterday morning after six weeks' holiday in New South Wales. Mr. C. H. Batt, who was relieving manager, left yesterday for Palmerston North.

The death occurred suddenly at Wellington on Friday of Mr. Charles Henry Chatwin, a former well-known and popular resident of Te Kuiti. Mr. Chatwin was on the staff of the Union Bank of Australia, Ltd., Te Kuiti, for some time, was keenly interested in cricket and football, and was also an accomplished pianist.

Mr. C. S. Brook, who was recently elected to the Waitomo Power Board, was welcomed by Board members on Monday. The election resulted in only the one change, and the former member, Mr. T. M. O'Connell, who had occupied the seat now held by Mr. Brook, did not contest it owing to his transfer to Frankton.
