WEDDING

GOWER—SOMERVILLE. A pretty wedding which attracted widespread interest, was solemnised at St. Andrew's Church, Te Kuiti on Wednesday evening, when Jessie Bernard, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Somerville, of "Lauriston," Te -Kumi, was married to Kenneth Edwin Matthew, second son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Gower, of Ohakune. The Rev. W. T. Brabyn officiated, and the organ was played by Miss I. Graham. For the service the church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride in pink chrysanthemums and autumn leaves.

The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in her picturesque gown of buff lame, heavily embossed with silver, and with a heavy silver girdle. The picture was completed by her trailing, fan-shaped train, • and her headdress, composed entirely of rosetinted pearl and silver, from which floated a long pale pink veil. She carried an armlet bouquet of white dahlias, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern.

The bride was attended by three maids —Miss Marion Miss Joan Somerville, and Miss Maisie Gower. They were clad alike in gowns of full-skirted coin spot silk tulle over silver lame. The flowers used for head adornment corresponded with those of the armlet bouquets, and comprised chrysanthemums and dahlias shaded from palest pink to deep blush rose. r

Mr. Jack Gower attended the bridegroom as best man, and Messrs. Keith Somerville and Neville Gower as groomsmen. The ushers were Messrs. D. Didsbury, J. Morgan and G. Lusk.

Following the ceremony, the guests were received at the Parish Hall by Mrs. Somerville, mother of the bride, who wore a gown of midnight blue lace, with a chenille velvet coatee; and by Mrs. Gower, mother of the bridegroom, who wore a wine coloured gown with sequin trimmings. A very enjoyable dance held after the reception, was attended by the guests and a number-.of other friends of the happy couple.
