CRICKET

TOWN AGAIN SUCCESSFUL. SIXTH WICKET PARTNERSHIP. The Town cricketers once again secured a fairly narrow victory over the Country side when the two teams met at Pio Pio last Saturday. To McKenzie lies the chief credit for Town’s victory—after taking five wickets for 15 runs, he hit up 45 in a fine innings before he retired. Country, who batted first, started off most auspiciously, and with Smith and Ronaldson in form had 73 in hand at the fall of the third wicket. Save for Neal (13), however, the incoming batsmen were soon dismissed and the innings ended with a total of 108 in hand. A rot developed after Town had lost their second wicket, and six wickets were soon down for 42. At this point Pitt and MacKenzie instituted a partnership that raised the score to 100 without further loss; and MacKenzie continued to raise his total to 45 before retiring when the. Town score stood at 123. The following are the detail scores:— COUNTRY.—First Innings.
