SCHOOL SPORTS

IDEAL CONDITIONS PREVAIL. SUCCESSFUL DAY FOR TE KUITI. Under ideal conditions the King Country School Sports were held on the Te Kuiti Domain on Saturday. The tracks were in first-class hrder and many records were broken. The Committee in charge of the arrangements is to be congratulated on the efficient manner in which the sports were controlled.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of the Association, Mr. C. Hotson, in presenting the cups to the various schools, referred to the necessity for the keenness of every school in the Association if the sports were to be carried on as they had been in the past. Three out of the four cups were won by Te Kuiti School, the Senior Boys, Junior Boys, and Junior Girls, while Taumarunui were successful in winning the Senior Girls’ Cup. Mr. Hotson also presented the Teddy Shield to T. Teesdale captain of the Te Kuiti School Football Team.

Amongst the records broken were: 120 Senior Hurdles, 120 Junior Hurdles, 220 Senior, 440 Senior, 440 Junior, 1 Mile Junior, y 2 Mile Junior Walk, Junior Hop, Step and Jump, Junior Boys’ Jump, Junior Girls’ 75 Yards.
