DAIRY COMPANIES
PROPOSED AMALGAMATION. IN TAUMARUNUI DISTRICT. At the Taumarunui Council Chambers yesterday afternoon the executive Commission of Agriculture met the full board of the Kaitieke Dairy Co. and the Qhura Valley Company and representatives of the suppliers of the Waikato Dairy Co., when a conference took place regarding the recent proposals of the two local dairy companies and the absorption of the Waikato Valley suppliers of the district. The various aspects of the question were fully discussed and the meeting lasted till after 5 o’clock. The result of the meeting was that the Commission decided to visit Ohura and Matiere districts and once more put before the suppliers the various issues connected with the proposals and discuss the matter again with the suppliers to the three companies who sent cream from that district. The Commission proposed to take a separate vote from each of the three separate lots of suppliers on three .alternative proposals.
The Executive Commissioners were Sir Francis Fraser, deputy-chairman, and Mr. David Jones. Mr. A. J. Murdoch, chairman of the Control Board, was also present and took part in the discussion. The commission met the directors from the Kaitieke and the Ohura Valley Companies individually and then afterwards had a meeting of the two directorates together and finally a meeting of the two directorates of the companies mentioned and representatives of the Waikato Valley Company.
