SHORTAGE OF FARM LABOUR IN BRITAIN.
It is not only in New Zealand that farmers are worried about the shortage of labour. All over Britain the same difficulty is prevalent. In North Lincolnshire there is fear that potatoes will rot in the ground owing to the lack of diggers and pickers. In East Kent, hop-growers are alarmed at the shortage of pickers. Again in Lincolnshire, the sugarbeet harvest is slow owing to labour shortage, said to be due to the large number of men who have been given employment on .aerodromes and other public works.
