K.C. CHAMPIONSHIPS. FOUHY DEFEATS BROWN. The King Country Tennis Championships were played . during the week-end on the Taumarunui courts, and there were very good entries. The day was ideal for tennis and the play was of a very good standard. Results are as follows: Men’s Championship Singles. First Round: Brown defeated E. Taylor, 6—l, 6 —3; Purcell defeated Grant, 6 —5, 6—2; Philpotts defeated Coney, 3—6, 6—3, 6—o; Fouhy defeated Wharetini, 6—o, 6—4; McLeod defeated J. McNamara 6 —3, 2—6, 6—4; J.
