DROVER FINED
CHARGE OF INDECENT LANGUAGE. On a charge of using indecent language in a public place, Waitete Road, a drover, John Wooten, was fined 40s and costs in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. Sergeant Sparks said on January 22nd last the accused, when driving some sheep down Waitete Road, had some trouble with the sheep and his dogs and made use of the language complained of. Women in nearby houses heard this language. Mr. Morton said that one ewe broke away, and he got down from his horse to stop it. The ewe caught an arm which had recently been broken and the pain caused him to use two of the words complained of —he had not used the third expression.
