TANGITU

SETTLERS’ ASSOC. MEETING. (Own Correspondent.) At the monthly meeting of the Tangitu Settlers’ Association, held in the Tangitu Hall on Monday, the Ist inst., Mr. Blackmore, Farmers' Union representative, on the invitation of the secretary, addressed the meeting. Mr. Blackmore stated that he was in the district for the purpose of forming a branch of the Farmers’ Union, but did not wish to commence organising until he was “au fait” with the attitude that would be token by the Settlers’ Association executive towards his activities. A proposition was carried to the effect that the executive would in no way oppose Mr. Blackmore in organising a Farmers’ Union branch in the district.

The secretary’s action in inviting Mr. Blackmore to address the meet., ing was endorsed. The ordinary business of the meeting was then attended to, the secretary reporting satisfactory progress on several matters at present receiving his attention. It was also pointed out that the resignation of the Tangitu Settlers’ Association from the Amalgamated Settlers’ Association had been duly forwarded. Great satisfaction was felt in the fact that although Mr. J. Jones, the secretary, was leaving Tangitu to reside in Te Kuiti, he would still continue to act as secretory of the Association and attend meetings as heretofore, arrangements having been made in that respect.
