WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
Mrs. Cathie presided over a large number of members and friends at the last meeting of the Mangaokewa branch of the Women’s Institute, which was held on January 28th at the tennis courts. After lunch, library books were exchanged and then our Creed was read. One new member, Mrs. Hampson, was enrolled. A competition arranged by Miss Ruth Whitehouse was won by Mrs. Amundsen. A. very enjoyable and instructive demonstration, “pine needlework,” was given by Mrs. Hampson. The president then closed the meeting, after which an hour or two of tennis was enjoyed.
