BAKING BY ELECTRICITY
TE KUITI'S NEW BAKERY OPERATES. (Published by Arrangement.) Mr. Mackenzie brings to our town the latest in electric bread and small goods baking. The electric bread oven is the most efficient and economical method known for baking bread, and from the hygienic point of view it is unsurpassed for cleanliness and ease of operation. The bread, generally known as the "Staff of Life," and forming practically the basis of our diet, responds more than any other food —better keepingqualities, fuller flavour, and even texture, with an appetising golden crust. The big oven was built and installed by Messrs. Turnbull and Jones, of Auckland, who have installed ovens for some of the leading catering firms in the Dominion. Mr. Mackenzie's oven is the first to be installed in the King Country. The electric ovens are baking their share of the people's daily bread in all the leading cities and large towns of New Zealand. The bakery, which is situated in Security Buildings, is constructed of reinforced walls, with smooth cement floor for sanitary cleansing, and is of rat and mouse-proof construction. The contractor and builder is Mr. J. Shanks, of Te Kuiti, who is to be congratulated on his workmanship and finish of the building. Mr. Mackenzie is also opening another addition to the bakery, the Peter Pan tearooms. With novelty apple green duco finish, tables and chairs to match look very tempting, where patrons -can sample the electric cooking served with dainty teas, especially as Mr. Mackenzie's reputation is extensively known as a pastrycook. Mr. Mackenzie has shown great faith in the future of Te Kuiti and his enterprise should be appreciated by the local public and tourists.
