A mechanical man or robot, which smokes new pipes and "breaks them in" for their owners, attracted a lot of attention from' smokers at the last British . Industries Fair at Olympia. The invention is a great novelty, but probably beyond the means of the ordinary smoker who finds littleNiifficulty anyhow in breaking- in his new pipes for himself. It's pot very difficult. Far more important is the choice of tobacco which should combine flavour, coolness, bouquet, and that elusive "something" that every smoker knows and appreciates but would be puzzled to define. The ideal tobacco should, moreover, contain the minimum amount of nicotine. You may say "Yes, but where is such tobacco to be had?" The answer is "at the nearest tobacconist's." "Toasted" possesses all the qualities enumerated. They ensure, these toasted brands, not only a luxuiious smoke, but a harmless one. Toasting eliminates nicotine. . The genuine toasted brands, Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), Navy Cut No.' 3 (Bulldog), Cavendish, Riverhead Gold and Desert Gold, cannot be bettered because no better or purer tobacco is manufactured.
