OBITUARY

MRS. H. D. COOPER. The news, of the death of Mrs. H. D. Cooper was received with deep regret in Te Kuiti this morning. Mrs. Cooper, who was the wife of Mr. H. D. Cooper, local manager for Messrs. Dalgety and Company, became suddenly ill on Friday and was taken to Hamilton. There an operation was performed but complications ensued, and she passed away at an early hour this morning. The late Mrs. Cooper had a very wide circle of friends in this district, where she resided prior to her marriage. She later lived in Auckland, but returned 10 or 12 years ago. Always keenly interested in sport, she was the ladies’ president of the Te Kuiti Golf Club, and as a mark of respect the annual meeting of the Club, which was to have been held this evening, has been postponed for a week. She was always a leader in social work, and was prominently asociated with the Plunket Society, the W.D.F.U., the Civic League, and in the activities of the Anglican Church. ; The deceased is survived by her husband and three young children, her son Baron, and the. two adopted children, Diana and Rosemary, Fetch, the daughters of Mrs. Cooper’s late brother. Another brother, Mr. B. Fetch, is the manager of Messrs. Dalgety and Company’s branch at Opotiki.
