WAITOMO POWER BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. Th© monthly meeting of the Waitomo Power Board was held in the Board’s offices at Te Kuiti on Monday, Mr. W. S. Cato presiding over Messrs. V. W. Simms, E. T. Gorton, W. Bluck, T. M. O’Connell, W. A. Lee, J. N. Boddie, the secretary, Mr. W. F. Seeker, and the engineer, Mr. Davidson. It was decided to purchase £2 2s worth of Health Stamps. The Te Kuiti Municipal Band asked for three lights to be installed in Roi’a Street free of charge. Mr. Gorton held that it was the province of the Borough Council to deal with this matter, Mr. Simms agreeing. with this view. On Mr. Boddie’s motion the matter was left to the Board’s officers, Mr. Simms re-iterating that the Board should be put to no cost in the matter. A decision was made to await a reply from the Chief Electrical Engineer before further consideration of the re-allocation of the boundaries between the Waitomo and Te Kuiti Boards. The following applications for power were received and details as under were supplied by the engineer. 0. Self, Waitete Road, 20 chains of line necessary, capital cost £6O. Guarantee required £l2 per annum for six years. The extension was approved. J. D. Stevenson, E. West and S. Board, Hangatiki. A total of half a mile of line would be required, the capital cost of which would be £l5O. The line was authorized, subject to a £25 annual guarantee being available. T. D. Jolly and J. A. Reed, of Wharepuhunga. The lines were authorized subject to guarantees of £SO and £3O respectively being available. A. C. Thoms, R. A. Daniel, I. R. and J. W. Shearer, of Te Kuiti. Three-quarter miles of line would be necessary, the capital cost of which would be £240. The work was authorized subject to a total guarantee of £4O being available. The engineer reported that the Wharepuhunga-Mangatutu line was completed last week, and steady progress made with the wiring of the houses and sheds. . An exceptionally busy period was being experienced in' installation work apart from this line.
