ARIA

WEDDING.

(Own Correspondent). On Saturday last at St. Barnabas’ Anglican Church, Aria, there was solemnised the wedding of _ Dell, second daughter of Mr. A. R. Keighley of Paraheka, to Mack," youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Old, of Mahoehui. The bride wore white satin with embroidered lace, and was accompanied by her sister as bridesmaid. The latter wore pink satin. Both carried bouquets of chrysanthemums. The bride was given away by her father. The best man was Mr. W. Keighley. The Church was beautifully decorated by ladies of the Anglican Guild.

R.S.A. Reunion.

On Saturday the local men held their reunion in the Aria Hall. The weather was appalling and in consequence the attendance was not good, yet it did not keep away those hardy old Mokauiti veterans, Jack Dixon, Paddy Riley and Jack Kirk. President Morris, of Pio Pio, also braved the

weather and- honoured us with his presence. Mr. Cayley-Alexander was prevented from attending owing to his late return "from Waikato Hospital, and his absence was a great disappointment to Aria members, with whom he is always a prime favourite. The Te Kuiti headquarters party also were unable to attend. Yet we hope they will honour us by attending one of our monthly meetings, for after all we are the oldest subbranch of the Te Kuiti R.S.A. The following toast list was disposed of and then the gathering settled down into little groups and became a real reunion:—“The King”; “Absent Comrades,” by Mr. J. B. Woods; “Navy, Army and Air Force,” by Mr. A. Henderson and responded to by Mr. W. Riley; “R.5.A.,” by Mr. Reeve-Smith and responded to by Mr. John Nicol; “Visiting Branches,” by Mr. Fred Davidson and responded to by Mr. Jack Dixon, of Mokauiti, and Mr. Morris, of Pio Pio. During the toast list Mr. D. J. Helms, Past President of the Aria Branch, in a very happy speech, presented to Mr. Alf. Henderson a gold inscribed button as a permanent token of appreciation of the work he had done in getting the. War Memorial built. Mr. Henderson suitably replied. The township must have been awakened by the cheers when Mr. Helms pinned the decoratio'n on Mr. Henderson’s breast. Songs, etc., were contributed by practically every member present, and all voted the evening one of the most pleasant the branch has held.
