COUNTY BY-ELECTION
MEMBER FOR PAEMAKO. Considerable interest is being taken in the forthcoming election in the Paemako Riding to determine a successor at the Waitomo County Council table to the late Mr. C. K. Wilson. Paemako being the largest riding in the County, has two members on the Council, Mr. R. W. Neal being its other representative. When nominations to fill the vacancy closed yesterday, Messrs. R. Boddy and G. W. Crocombe had been nominated. This is the second by-election which has been held in the County this year. A vacancy was caused a few months ago owing to the death of Cr. R. Were, and Messrs. G. Were and J. N. Boddie were nominated to fill the seat of the Mairoa Riding, the firstnamed being successful. The candidate who is successful in the coming election will have only a short term of office before the general election of members in May—if the Council suspend the January meeting, as has been the custom in the past, he will have only three meetings of the Council to attend before May. An advertisement in this issue gives the polling booths for the election, which is to be held on December 17.
