THE GERMAN FLEET

VISITED BY NAZI HEADS. "GERMANY LONGS FOR PEACE." (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 12.20 p.m.) Berlin, May 22. The Times correspondent states that Herr Hitler, accompanied by Herr von Papen, Captain Goebels, and Captain Goering, flew to Kiel on their first visit to the German fleet. Herr Hitler was saluted with nineteen guns as he boarded the flagship, the old battleship Schleswigholstein. All of Germany's navy was assembled, except the Koln, which has not returned from Australia, andj the Emden, which is being refitted. Herr Hitler, addressing the garrison, said that though the fleet was small, Germans regarded it with pride as the most tangible symbol of Germany's honour and prestige. Germany longed for peace, but was determined to obtain equality and freedom.

Herr Hitler accompanies the fleet on two days' manoeuvres.
